Dyer County COVID-19 update for January 26

With the release of the Tennessee Department of Health’s (TDH) daily COVID-19 update on Tuesday, the department reported Dyer County as having a total of 4,885 COVID-19 cases, which consist of confirmed and probable cases. Additionally, the TDH said that Dyer County had 236 active cases with 4,562 recoveries/inactive cases. The total number of deaths due to the virus was listed at 87.

TDH COVID-19 Dyer County Data Dashboard:

The TDH launched a COVID-19 website, https://covid19.tn.gov, which helps streamline and simplify some of the most frequently requested COVID-19 data. The site, which can be accessed for both desktop and mobile users, offers dashboards and daily reports with state and county-level information including case counts, hospitalizations and tests conducted.

As of 4:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, the numbers reflected were as follows:

Dyer County was listed as having 88 COVID-19 related hospitalizations. New active cases from Jan. 25 to Jan. 26 increased by 11.

The website also lists case counts and daily case rates from the following time periods:

- Most recent 7 days (Jan. 20, 2021 – Jan. 26, 2021)

113 case count; 43.4 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Most recent 14 days (Jan. 13, 2021 – Jan. 26, 2021)

276 case count; 53.1 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Previous 14 days (Dec. 30, 2020 – Jan. 12, 2021)

437 case count; 84 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Total (March 5, 2020 – Jan. 26, 2021)

4,885 case count; 40.2 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

Additionally, the website reported Dyer County has averaged 55 tests per day (148 tests per 100,000 residents) over the past 7 days.

The average positive percentage of tests, over the most recent 7 days, was 17.1 percent.

TDH COVID-19 numbers in Tennessee:

Statewide, on Tuesday, Tennessee was reported having 712,406 total cases, with 606,592 confirmed and 105,814 probable. Recoveries/Inactive cases were listed at 662,533.

Total deaths in the state were reported at 9,162, with 7,571 confirmed and 1,591 probable.

Tennessee has conducted a total of 6,207,152 tests. As of Tuesday afternoon, there were 2,026 hospitalizations.

Shelby County (Memphis) continued to lead the state in total COVID-19 cases with 79,215, while Davidson County (Nashville) is second, with 73,395.

Other Tennessee counties that have surpassed the 10,000 total case mark are Knox (Knoxville) at 40,479, Hamilton (Chattanooga) at 36,114, Rutherford (Murfreesboro) at 34,354, Williamson (Franklin) at 22,359, Sumner (Hendersonville/Gallatin) at 18,891, Montgomery (Clarksville) 15,282, Wilson (Lebanon) 14,907, Sullivan (Blountville/Bristol) 13,036, Blount (Maryville) at 12,443, Washington (Jonesborough/Johnson City) 12,236, Maury (Columbia) 11,346, Bradley (Cleveland) 11,329, Sevier (Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg) 10,910, and Putnam (Cookeville) at 10,222.

TDH COVID-19 Vaccine Report (updated on Jan. 18):

Tennessee has reported a total of 370,895 vaccinations, with 6,333 of those reported within the previous day of the issuance of the report.

For Dyer County, it was reported 4.95 percent of the population has received one dose of the vaccine, while 0.68 of the population has received their second dose.
