Tiptonville shooting ends with one fatality

On the evening of Feb. 9, 2024, there was a shooting inside the city limits of Tiptonville, TN. The District Attorney General's Office was contacted by the Tiptonville Police Department regarding the incident which is still under investigation.

As a result of this violent encounter, Mr. William Edward Gauldin, Jr., 19, was critically injured and transported by Lake County EMS to the Dyersburg Hospital. After exhausting all resuscitation options, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased in the emergency department.

The incident is believed to be isolated and law enforcement is working hard to establish all the facts in this case. Mr. Gauldin was transported to the Nashville Forensic Center to undergo a comprehensive autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
