Key Corner Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution opened its current America 250! exhibit, “A Presidential Stroll,” at Dyersburg State’s Learning Resource Center [LRC] with a nod to the students.

The educational and informative exhibit shares information about, not only the Founding Fathers, but about all the presidents who have followed. In preparation for the America 250! celebration, the Key Corner Daughters created the exhibit with fun facts and trivia. The presentation runs until February 29, and is free and open for public viewing Monday-Friday during the LRC’s regular hours of operation.

Beginning with a music program performed by Mrs. Renae’s third graders from Newbern Elementary, and under the direction of Mr. Michael Kidd, the tone was set. Chapter school winners of the American History Essay Contest were also recognized.

The topic, “Celebrating the Stars and Stripes Forever,” tasked students with posing as a newspaper reporter hearing the John Phillip Sousa March for the very first time 100 years ago, and then proceeding to report on its reception and the composer. Chapter winners were then judged at the District level.
