The first three batters for the Lady Eagles reached safely as Chloe Jones and Kylie Waldrep singled along with a Ryleigh Bowers walk to load the bases. Two batters later with one out, Shelby Durbin singled in two runs to put the Lady Eagles on top 2-0 after one inning.

But, the Lady Raiders answered with three in the second and three more in the top of the fourth to take a 6-2 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth.

In the bottom of the frame, Bre Ramsey doubled to lead off the inning then Katie Chesser reached on an error. A pair of strikeouts followed to give the Lady Eagles two outs with two on before Jones drew a walk to load the bases. Bowers singled in two to cut the Lady Raider lead in half then Camp cleared the bases two batters later with a three-run double to give Dyersburg State a 7-6 lead after four innings.

The Lady Raiders answered in kind, scoring four in the top of the fifth then another in the sixth to retake the lead and hold on for the win.

Emma Bullington took the loss in the circle, allowing 11 runs (only four earned) on nine hits with six strikeouts.

The Lady Eagles scattered six hits with Camp and Ramsey’s doubles the only extra base hits.

A couple of one-run innings early were followed by a six-run inning in the fourth to help the Lady Eagles to a seven-run win.

Jones led off the bottom of the first with a single then scored two batters later on a Durbin flyout to put Dyersburg State up 1-0 after one inning.

With one out in the bottom of the second, Waldrep was hit by a pitch then advanced on a Ramsey double. Cora Bogue followed with a sacrifice fly to plate Waldrep to put the Lady Eagles up 2-0 after two innings.

Two innings later, Dyersburg State’s offense busted out in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs, a second error of the inning by Three Rivers allowed Cadey McDaniel to reach on an error and keep the inning alive. A Jones single plated a run then Bowers reached on another error. A fourth Lady Raider error allowed Durbin to reach and a run to score before a Pearson Vaughn double scored three runs to extend the Dyersburg State lead to seven. Camp then singled in Vaughn to put Dyersburg State on top 8-0 after four innings.

The Lady Raiders did get two of those runs back in the top of the fifth to cut it to an 8-1 game.

Dyersburg State picked up another run in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI double from Durbin to take a 9-2 lead heading into the sixth.

From there, McDaniel and the Lady Eagle defense faced only one over the minimum in the final two innings to seal the win.

Vaughn led the way at the plate with a double and a single with three RBI while Jones had a pair of singles with one run driven in.

McDaniel picked up the win, allowing two runs on six hits with four strikeouts in the complete game.

Dyersburg State returns to action on Friday when the Lady Eagles begin a four-game weekend series with Roane State at home. Friday’s doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.
