City schools given high marks by state

The State of Tennessee gave Dyersburg City Schools high marks on its 2001 report card for public schools, but gave itself a D and F, respectively, for teacher salaries and per pupil expenditures. The annual report card, which is based upon standardized tests taken during the spring of each year as well as student demographics and other data, showed that in all areas the four city schools were at least performing on a par with school systems across Tennessee, but in many grades and subjects students were scoring well above average. ...
