Arson plea brings six-year prison sentence

A Finley man pleaded guilty Tuesday in Dyer County Circuit Court to setting a fire at a local mobile home park and was sentenced to serve six years in prison. Michael Chad Patterson, 19, of 963 Beech St., originally was charged with aggravated arson in connection with a July 7, 2001, fire at Barkers' Mobile Home Park, but was allowed to accept the stiffest sentence available for simple arson because aggravated arson involves setting fire to a structure that is inhabited and Patterson set fire to the park's office, which was unoccupied at the time. ...
