Ford, trucking companies sued for breach of employment contracts

Four truck drivers residing in Montgomery County, Tenn., have filed a lawsuit seeking $34,716 plus damages from Freddie Ford of Dyersburg and two trucking companies he has run. Sherri McPhee, Robert Cuthbertson, William Cuthbertson and Lea Ann Cuthbertson, filed the complaint against Ford, ATLI Inc., and AirTrans Inc. on June 4 in Dyer County Circuit Court. Harper resigns as Newbern alderman

Newbern Alderman Steve Harper has resigned from the city board, effective immediately. Harper resigned in a letter to Newbern Mayor Joe Adams dated June 5. Adams announced the resignation during a called meeting Wednesday night. "He just told me he had to resign," Adams said Thursday. Dyersburg Police made the arrest of a man driving a scooter without the use of a helmet through East Court Street, who gained more than just minor charges as he became hostile towards officers and then resisted arrest, on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. According to the report, officers observed suspect, Lewis Tyus, 45, traveling on a scooter east on Court Street, near Reynolds Street, without a helmet. ...
