The remains of the man thought to have mistakenly dug up by a city cemetery crew from Fairview Cemetery in March is John J. Johnson, who died at 6 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, 1925 at the age of 79. A survey of the burial records from Curry's Funeral Home, on microfilm at McIver's Bluff Public Library, show Johnson died at his city home from "uremia poisoning," which today is termed a type of kidney failure. Man sentenced to eight years on drug charges

Dyersburg man pleaded guilty to drug charges in Dyer County Circuit Court on Tuesday and was sentenced to serve eight years in prison. Robert L. Simmons Jr., 19, of 350 Lyte Circle, was authorized by Judge Lee Moore to enter a long-term (6 months or more) drug rehabilitation program if he can get admitted before being taken into custody by the Tennessee Department of Correction.
