Choctaw Transportation Co. of Dyersburg plans to build a ramp to unload barges in Lake County. The ramp is to be built at River Mile 880, which is located south of Island 11 and north of Tiptonville. Choctaw proposes to grade the riverbank and construct a 20-foot wide ramp. No wetlands are to be impacted by the project. Dyersburg Police receive grant for vests

The Dyersburg Police Department received notification Monday from the Federal Bureau of Justice that it will receive a matching grant for the purchase of bulletproof vests, said DPD chief Bobby Williamson. The grant, which is entitled "The Bulletproof Vest Partnership," provides funding priority for smaller jurisdictions with populations under 100,000. DPD is to receive $19,440 for 50 percent of the vest purchases, Williamson said, and the city is to provide the remainder...
