Aug. 4 marks the beginning of a four-day-long journey for 158 participants running from the doors of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to Peoria, Ill., in an event which has raised over $8.9 million for the hospital since 1982. Elderly woman sentenced on drug charges

A 60-year-old Friendship woman with heart problems pleaded guilty to five counts of drug sales Tuesday in Dyer County Circuit Court and was sentenced to serve six months in jail. Betty Elmore of 810 Main St. was sentenced by Judge Lee Moore to serve four years in jail, suspended to six months in the Dyer County Jail and three years, six months on community corrections (house arrest) on each of four of the charges and two years in jail, suspended to six months in jail and 18 months of community corrections (house arrest) on the fifth. ...
