Local students achieve in Spanish

Hundreds of students studying Spanish in five high schools across the region competed in a variety of venues and experienced a taste of Hispanic culture at the annual Spanish Fair held recently at Dyersburg State. Art, poster design, photography, ethnic foods, pottery, skits, poetry recitations and Spanish conversation, vocabulary and writing skills were just a few of the areas judged. City may seek $1 million bond for road repairs

The city of Dyersburg may soon seek a new $1 million bond issue to cover its share of costs for major road upgrades inside the city limits, the purchase of a new fire truck and upgrades of equipment at the Public Works Department. According to a report made on Monday by Freeman Dudley, chairman of the city's street committee, the Tennessee Department of Transportation has agreed to invest over a half million dollars in resurfacing six streets considered "Metro Routes" inside the city limits, but Dyersburg was told it must cover 20 percent of the total cost or approximately $108,000.. ...
