Three Oaks student wins online contest to aid school

Sixth-grader Hayden Austin beat out 18,000 other contestants to win a contest that benefited his school and himself. Hayden won $1,000 for himself and $5,000 for his school in an online sweepstakes sponsored by Toon Disney and Frito Lay. The money can be used to purchase athletic and playground equipment. Memorial Day services scheduled for Monday

The annual Memorial Day services, honoring all veterans, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 29, at Fairview Cemetery. The program, sponsored by American Legion Post No. 30, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 46 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1972, will include the presentation of the colors by the Dyer County High School Junior ROTC. Dead man faced felony drug trial next month

The man gunned down by unknown assailants on Monday in Dyersburg was to face a trial next month in Lauderdale County on drug charges. Franklin D. Williams, 31; Roderick A. Lanier, 21; and Jamaal R.
