Public works leaders pleased with new city budget plan

Department heads for the water, sewer and gas departments in Dyersburg told members of the committee overseeing operations in Public Works on Thursday that they were satisfied with the terms of the proposed 2006-07 budget. Agents find guns, explosives in home

A large amount of explosives, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and several rifles and handguns were found Thursday in the home of a convicted felon near Cottonwood Point in rural Pemiscot County, Mo. Agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Department and state agents served a federal search warrant at 1590 County Highway 533 shortly after noon. ...

City wins judgment in dispute over water territory

A dispute over water rights between Dyersburg and the Dyersburg Suburban Consolidated Utility District was resolved in Chancery Court Wednesday when the judge issued a summary judgment on Wednesday in favor of the city. DSCUD had challenged the city's right to run water lines to the new Creek Wood Subdivision development along the south side of Upper Finley Road claiming this was a part of the rural utility's service area. ...

Chief presents ambitious public safety plan

The new chief of police for Dyersburg, Terry Ledbetter, laid out an ambitious 10-point plan for public safety Monday night that he said will be pursued throughout his 90-day proving period at the helm of the DPD.
