Police squad cars getting new -- old -- paint scheme

Some of the Dyersburg Police Department's squad cars will look a little different in the coming months, as the agency is preparing to repaint its fleet of cars from its current design to the traditional black and white. Circuit judge race garnering most campaign funding

The two candidates for circuit judge have attracted the most financial support -- more than $20,000 -- for the Aug. 3 Dyer County general election. The reports were filed July 10 and covered the period between April 1 and June 30. Circuit Judge Lee Moore is the greatest beneficiary of campaign contributions for his re-election bid with $13,488 through June 30. ...

Nearly 2,500 cast early votes in first eight days

Through the first eight days of early voting for the Aug. 3 state primary and county general election, 2,432 Dyer Countians had cast ballots. The county has about 21,000 registered voters. Early voting for the Aug. 3 election continues through Saturday with polls open at the county election commission office, 101 W. Market St. in Dyersburg. Hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday. The phone number of the election commission is 286-4268...
