Appeals court dismisses sex offender case over terms 'register', 'report'

An appeals court in February threw out a Middle Tennessee sex offender's indictment over a quibble about the words "register" and "report." According to the appeal, plaintiff Jamie Roskom moved to Shelbyville, Tenn., from Wisconsin and failed to report in a timely manner to update his registration as a convicted sex offender. Charlene's damaged by blaze

A valiant effort by three fire departments kept a blaze from destroying the Charlene's Colony of Shoppes boutiques two miles west of Halls on Friday. Smoke was spotted at about 6:30 a.m., and Halls police officers arrived on the scene to find flames engulfing the roof of one building of the five-building complex.
