Man sentenced on DWI charge

A Dyer County jury convicted a Ripley man of driving while intoxicated and violation of the implied consent law. The trial against Endrie E. Johnson, 37, 282 Collins St. in Ripley, was held Sept. 26 in Dyer County Circuit Court. On the DWI charge, he was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in jail with all but 10 days suspended. After serving his time in jail, Johnson will be placed on probation for 11 months and 29 days. He also was fined $350 and his driver's license was revoked for a year...

Byars trial rescheduled for June

KNOXVILLE -- The trial against a former volunteer track coach accused of raping a Dyersburg girl has been rescheduled for June 2 in Knox County Criminal Court Division IV. Timothy Neal Byars, 45, 838 Lattawood Drive, was scheduled to go on trial Monday, Oct. 8, on charges of rape, sexual battery by an authority figure, statutory rape by an authority figure and aggravated statutory rape. He is accused of raping a then-14-year-old girl during a trip to a track competition Nov. 18 in Knoxville...

Jack C. Berg, 87, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007 at Wesley at Dyersburg Nursing Center. He was a retired park ranger for Marathon Oil Company, an Army veteran of World War II and attended Miston Baptist Church.
