DES board writes off large debt

Basin authority expands beaver control program

The West Tennessee River Basin Authority has expanded its beaver damage management program. The board of directors increased the maximum amount of matching money available to counties, municipalities and private landowners. Firefighter pleads guilty to reckless burning

The last of the Tiptonville firefighters accused of arson pleaded guilty Tuesday, Jan. 22, in Lake County Circuit Court to reckless burning charges. Floyd Kilburn had been charged with arson in the Aug. 25, 2004, burning of the Fisher building and the Sept. 9, 2005, burning of a Church Street building owned by Jimmy Simmons. He pleaded to a lesser charge in a deal that allowed him to keep his job and make restitution payments to the victims...
