Newbern Street Dance scheduled for July 26

The Newbern Volunteer Fire Department will host the 7th annual Newbern Street Dance on Saturday, July 26 from 3-11 p.m. on the square in downtown Newbern. Dyer County schools ready for new classes

All Dyer County elementary and middle schools as well as high school freshmen will begin with a half-day on Thursday, July 31. Students will attend from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Busses will run, but no breakfast or lunch will be served. River-related problems are quite similar from one county to the next, and the West Tennessee River Basin Authority hopes to devise cookie-cutter solutions. The basin authority hired the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to identify problems and potential treatments in the upstream portions of the Obion, Forked Deer and Hatchie river basins.
