Woman to serve 8 years for soliciting ex's murder

A 28-year-old woman who hired an undercover officer to kill her ex-husband pleaded guilty Tuesday in Dyer County Circuit Court. Dottie Floyd was sentenced to eight years in prison for solicitation of first-degree murder. The McNairy County woman reportedly traveled to Dyersburg March 12 to hire Nathan Bishop, a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation special agent posing as an assassin. Floyd reportedly paid him $200 cash and gave him 120 hydrocodone pills -- the first of three such payments...

County highway department to buy 4 graders

Dyer County Road Superintendent Jeff Jones decided Monday to buy four new Caterpillar motor graders for $184,988 each. The bid from Thompson Machinery of Jackson was the highest of the four received. But Jones said he believes the county will recoup the price difference when it sells the graders in another four or five years...
