William Thomas Harris, 74, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was a Korean War veteran, and was a member of American Legion Post 191 and Les Gentle Hommes. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cosmopolitan Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Al Seward and the Rev. James A. Williamson officiating. Burial will be held in the M.C.C.O. Cemetery in Newbern with military honors...

Arrests made in weapons burglary

On Sunday, Sept. 26, Dyersburg Police investigators received information about possible stolen weapons being stored at a residence on Wheeler Street in Dyersburg. Investigators with the Dyersburg Police had been investigating recent gun thefts in the city, and the Dyer County Sheriff's Department reported working a case where 14 weapons had been stolen from a residence in the county...

Power board passes on generation plant investment, investigates new spill prevention regulations

Members of the Dyersburg Electric System Power Board opted not to participate in the Seven States Power Corporation's investment in a generation plant in Southaven, Miss. at the DES's regular monthly board meeting on Wednesday.
