Children ring in holiday during Chimes party

Christmas came a little early for 757 Dyer County children. They attended the 60th annual Chimes for Charity Christmas party Sunday afternoon in the Dyersburg High School gymnasium. Each child selected a big toy and a small toy, and received a jogging suit, a coloring book or storybook, and a Christmas stocking or hat donated by Wal-Mart to hold their goodies. The children also dined on fruit, a Happy Meal from McDonald's and drinks from Burks Beverages...

TDOS promotes Dyersburg resident, Deal, to Memphis district captain

The Tennessee Department of Safety recently announced the promotion of Joel Deal as the new captain over the Memphis district. This district includes the counties of Lake, Obion, Crockett, Lauderdale, Dyer, Tipton, Haywood, Hardeman, Fayette and Shelby. The Haywood County scales on I-40 East and Westbound at mile marker 50 will also be under his jurisdiction...

Cable One to drop WBBJ, WPSD and KFVS on Jan. 1

Cable One subscribers in Dyersburg will lose WBBJ in Jackson, WPSD in Paducah and KFVS in Cape Girardeau effective Jan. 1, 2009. "There are a couple of reasons for these changes," said Dyersburg Cable One General Manager Elvis Brown in a Dec. 23 press release on the issue. "The most important is signal strength. Heavy rains in Dyersburg Wednesday morning flooded Whitney Young Cove. The water was over two feet deep in some places making it impossible for several residents to leave their houses.
