Woman sentenced for embezzling $40,000 from bank

A Newbern woman has been sentenced to four months in prison for embezzling $40,000 from First South Bank in Dyersburg. Kristi L. Deming pleaded guilty Nov. 24 and was sentenced April 21 in U.S. District Court in Memphis. She was accused of embezzling $40,000 between May and July 2008 while working at the bank. ...

Highway 51 Bypass dog captured and being cared for

The most famous dog in Dyer County has been captured by the Dyer County Humane Society and is being socialized at a local resident's home. The dog in question is a black Labrador mix with white on the tip of his tail and on his chest. He was seen over the last five or six months on Highway 51 Bypass and South Main Avenue.
