Newbern police are investigating two burglaries that happened in the Scenic Hills neighborhood on Saturday, July 18. The burglaries occurred between the hours of 2 and 8:30 p.m. at 816 Hollowcreek Drive and 845 Scenic Hills Drive in Newbern. County school system seeks $18 million for new Fifth Consolidated, Newbern Elementary

The Dyer County school system plans Thursday to hand-deliver an application for $18.2 million in interest-free loans for school construction. The county Board of Education hopes to build two new schools to replace Fifth Consolidated and Newbern Elementary schools. The board purchased 53 acres on Millsfield Highway in May for the new Fifth Consolidated facilities. Champions to be crowned on Wednesday at city course

After several months of matches, the Dyersburg City Municipal Golf Course will crown a new Match-Play champion on Wednesday, Aug. 19, when the final matches are held beginning at 9 a.m. The golf course has undergone a facelift ever since new manager Bobby baker was hired to oversee the day-to-day operations.
