Members of the city's gas committee approved a new contract for natural gas management, which will save the city $76,444.78 in fees during the next fiscal year. Man sentenced to federal prison for part in meth conspiracy

A Dyersburg man was sentenced to 151 months in a federal prison for his part in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamines in Northwest Tennessee. Derek Patterson, 29, was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Jackson. After completing his prison sentence, Patterson will be placed on supervised release for four years. He also must complete a 500-hour drug rehabilitation program and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment...

Family of Dyersburg Medal of Honor recipient donates medal to 101st Airborne

"Honor and Country," is the motto of the United States Army's 327th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division. It is a motto that a man from Dyersburg lived and died for. 1st Lt. James A. Gardner, of Dyersburg, was killed in battle during the Vietnam War. His actions cost him his life on Feb. 7, 1966, which happened to be his 23rd birthday. His tour of duty was to be over in March.

Bevis holds off competition, wins Club Championship

A total of 73 golfers entered the annual Club Championship held at The Farms over the weekend. Though the conditions on Saturday couldn't have been any better, a swirling wind on Sunday tested the resolve of even the best golfers in the tournament. When all was said and done however, Mike Bevis Jr. held off the competition to earn the right to be called Club Champion. Bevis held the first-round lead after firing a 2-under par round of 70 on Saturday, before carding a 74 on Sunday...
