He was formerly employed at Nordine and was in the National Guard in Union City for 3 years. Humane Society presents Halloween fundraiser Saturday

County planners approve plat, discuss billboards

The Dyer County Regional Planning Commission approved Thursday afternoon a minor subdivision plat on Valley Drive. Steve Shannon asked the commission to approve a two-lot subdivision on Valley Drive. The subdivision was denied last month because one of the two lots would be "landlocked" without access to a public road. The plat was redrawn to include a 20-foot easement to the landlocked lot...

Sheriff recommends bank's bid for vehicle lease

Two local banks submitted bids to finance a $143,284.19 lease for seven new vehicles in the Dyer County Sheriff's Department. The bid from First Citizens National Bank will be recommended to the Dyer County Commission when it meets Oct. 19. First Citizens offered an interest rate of 3.47 percent and three annual payments of $49,404.25. The first payment will be made on the day the lease begins. With this proposal, the county will ultimately pay the bank $148,212.75...

Stabbing suspect's charge reduced
