In a late scheduled contest, the Dyersburg Trojan baseball team hosted Haywood County on Thursday. The outcome, after a three-run first inning, was never in doubt as the Trojans cruised to a lopsided, 18-0 victory. With the win, Dyersburg head coach Tom Mathis earned his 450th win as a head coach. The 22-year veteran was pleased to reach the milestone, but was more impressed with the way his squad attacked the Tomcats from the opening pitch of the game...

Ward Hanson Powers, 88, of Winchester, Ky. husband of Florence Lawson Powers for 68 years, passed away Wednesday April 28, at his home. He was born February 18, 1922, in Warren County, Pennsylvania, to the late C. Eugene and Edith Hansen Powers. He began his career at GTE Sylvania in 1951 and retired as plant manager in 1990, he was a United States Air Force veteran and flew 31 missions over Germany and was a member of the eighth Air Force during WWII, he graduated from Penn State in 1951, was a Kentucky Colonel, and former member of the Winchester Country Club and the Elks Club.. ...
