City completes Neighborhood Stabilization program, addresses cleanup on South Main

The city of Dyersburg recently completed the second and last phase of its Neighborhood Stabilization Grant, a program designed to help clean up properties in the city without cost to the property owner or the city coffers. The grant was already in place, with Phase I complete, before the largest flood in Dyer County history arrived in May. Tidwell attorney: Another sheriff's election needed

Rickie Tidwell's attorney, Mark Donahoe, says all they are asking for from the Dyer County Election Commission is a fair sheriff's election without irregularities. Donahoe filed a complaint with the Dyer County Chancery Clerk's office on Monday, contesting the Aug. 5 Dyer County Sheriff's election, in which Tidwell lost to Jeff Box by a margin of 184 votes. Sheriff candidates spend more than $40,000 total during election

Money translated into votes for some of the candidates in the Dyer County General Election. However, for some of them it did not. Candidates are required by law to disclose their campaign expenditures to the election commission before each election.
