Feed the Need marks 1-year anniversary Friday; volunteers needed

This month marks the one-year anniversary of the Feed the Need food-distribution program in Dyer County. Mark Oakes, program director, said over the past year they have distributed well over 1 million pounds of food to needy families in the county. The program helps struggling families by supplying them with 40 to 50 pounds of food each month. County losing building inspector

Dyer County Building Inspector Randy Parnell is leaving Friday for a new job. County Mayor Richard Hill was not available for comment Wednesday about plans to replace Parnell. In the meantime, Dyer County Building Official Daniel Cobb will perform inspections of residential buildings. Cobb is not a certified inspector, but he has inspected residential structures for 18 years. Because of its size, Dyer County is not required to have a certified inspector for residential properties, he said...
