DES celebrates Arbor Day with trees at River Park

Dyersburg Electric System celebrated Arbor Day on Friday, March 4, by donating several trees to the Downtown River Park. Participating in the annual event is a tradition for DES officials and a requirement of the system's Treeline USA certification. DES Forester Jack Golio said the system has been planning on aiding the River Park and Farmer's Market for several years, but DES officials have had to wait for the project to reach the tree-planting stage...

Suspect wanted after evading trooper on foot

Local authorities are searching for a suspect who ran from a Tennessee Highway Patrolman on Tuesday after he attempted to question the man at Walgreen's on Lake Road. The suspect was identified as Larry Stewart, 20, 2600 Welch Road, Newbern. THP Trooper Doug Robertson received information about Stewart allegedly engaging in illegal activities around 4 p.m. Robertson was able to identify Stewart and knew he had warrants out for his arrest. TBI seeks escaped convicts from Louisiana with West Tenn. ties

City board hires engineering firm for downtown project

Members of the Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Alderman held a brief meeting at the Municipal Courtroom on Monday evening. Mayor John Holden spoke on the proposed ordinance amendment of the Dyersburg Municipal Zoning Ordinance governing shared parking and common parking areas.
