Inmate's death ruled as suicide

The death of an inmate that occurred on Sunday at the Dyer County Jail has been ruled a suicide by the Shelby County Medical Examiner's office in Memphis. Derek Taylor, 40, 824 Hull St., was being held in the Dyer County Jail on a $7,500 bond after being arrested by Dyersburg Police on Tuesday, July 19, on two counts of theft under $1,000. Corrections officers found his body partially hanging from a type of screen with parts of a bed sheet tied around his neck on Sunday morning...
