Bessie "Cricket" Nelson, 85, of Halls, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Poplar Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Halls. Halls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

At the Shelter

We had a wonderful day at the Tractor Supply Co.'s Shelter Pet Adoption Day on Saturday. Nine dogs and puppies were adopted and at the shelter, a dog and kitten were adopted. That is a total of 11 lives saved. Please mark your calendar for the next adoption day which will be held the second Saturday of the month (Oct. 8) at Hollywood Feed from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
