Prayer vigil held at DHS for McNeil family

On Thursday night on the baseball field at Dyersburg High School, hundreds gathered to attend a prayer vigil held for Delmer and Tripp McNeil. The father and son were seriously injured in a house fire at their residence on Sunday afternoon in Finley. Residents may make donations to aid the McNeil family at both Security Bank and First Citizens National Bank. Residents may bring donations to any Security Bank branch in Dyersburg, Newbern, Trimble or Trenton. Checks may also be mailed to: Security Bank, C/O McNeil Fund, P.O. Box 525, Dyersburg, TN 38025. Donations to the First Citizens account may be made to any teller at any branch.

Karen Swift search continues on Saturday

Dyer County Emergency Management Director James Medling will be assisting the Dyer County Sheriff's Office in organizing search parties for Karen Swift, which will be comprised of volunteer firemen and first responders from the Dyer County fire departments and the Dyer County Rescue Squad. Medling has currently requested only civilian personnel from the area that are highly familiar with the rugged terrain in the Millsfield area and experienced boaters respond to the Millsfield Fire Dept. on Saturday, Nov. 19, to be briefed on the search details. All searchers are required to wear reflective vests to protect them from deer hunters, due to the fact that deer season starts on Saturday, Nov. 19. Snake chaps or protective boots are also suggested. Any personnel without a reflective vest will be turned away. All personnel will meet at the Millsfield Fire Department at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19. Any other civilian volunteers that show up with a reflective vest may be restricted to searching the roadways.
