Ruth Hazel Bane, 97, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Center. She was a retired factory worker for Dyersburg Fabrics, where she worked for 47 years and a member of Assembly of God Church. Dyersburg State Community College invites the community to spend a little time with the Kurnitz family in 1940s New York with an upcoming production of the Neil Simon classic "Lost in Yonkers". The play will be performed in the First Citizens Theater in the Campus Activities Building Thursday, March 22 through Saturday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m., nightly. County medical insurance claims higher than projected

The Dyer County insurance committee met on Tuesday morning to review the county employees' medical insurance plan under Cigna. The county had previously been insured through Blue Cross and Blue Shield but sought for an alternative plan last June after Blue Cross' renewal rate came in at a significant cost increase. Family celebrates baby born on leap day

The Christopher/Staggs family welcomed baby Abigail Victoria Staggs to the world on leap day. Feb. 29, which is only added to the calendar once every four years, will be a special celebration from now on for the two families. The family says they are committed to having a big blowout celebration every four years on leap day. Suspect sought in multiple burglaries

Dyersburg investigators are searching for a suspect they say has committed numerous burglaries, including some at two different storage facilities. Ralph Reeves, 22, has warrants out for his arrest with charges of burglary and theft over $1,000. He is believed to have broken into two storage facilities during the months of February and March and stolen numerous items such as three expensive guitars, amplifiers, collectible autographed posters, sports memorabilia, and more. ...

Theft suspect arrested at hospital after wrecking vehicle

An unlucky string of events landed one suspected thief behind bars early Thursday morning after he allegedly stole two expensive guitars from a Lake Road business.
