Port Authority hosts tour of Cates Landing

The Northwest Tennessee Regional Port Authority held a hard-hat tour of Cates Landing on Friday, March 11. Due to the 3 inches of rain that fell on Thursday afternoon the tour was limited to an in-depth presentation at the Main Street Centre followed by a bus tour of the port.

One Dyer County sex offender will not be seeing the light of freedom for the next 40 years after he was sentenced last week to serve two back-to-back 20-year sentences for sexually assaulting two men almost three years ago. Jay Haynes, 50, was arrested in 2009 for the rape of two mentally challenged 18-year-old men who are twin brothers and was sentenced by Judge Lee Moore after a Dyer County jury found him guilty on two counts of rape...
