Modessa McDaniel Daniels, 85, of Lenox, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. She was a retired licensed practical nurse at Parkview Hospital and a member of Three Oaks Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Dyer County Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Little Miss Dyer County Fair

Five-year-old Claire Erwin, daughter of Joe and Rachel Erwin, was crowned Little Miss Dyer County Fairest of the Fair on Thursday evening. The pageant took place in the Family Living Center of the Dyer County Fairgrounds with 28 contestants taking the stage in an effort to win the crown. Erwin's court includes First Maid Edie Kate Ward, daughter of Kevin and Carie Ward; Second Maid Jenna Claire Flatt, daughter of John and Andrea Flatt; and Third Maid Emma Kate Fair, daughter of Kevin and Ashley Fair. Junior Miss Dyer County Fair

Eight-year-old Avery Abshire, daughter of Scott and Hope Tarter, was crowned Junior Miss Dyer County Fairest of the Fair on Thursday evening. The pageant took place in the Family Living Center of the Dyer County Fairgrounds with 20 contestants vying for the crown. Abshire's court includes First Maid Zoey Orr, daughter of John and Michelle Orr; Second Maid PollyAnna Dennison, daughter of Thomas Dennison and Cody and Tona Summerlin; and Third Maid Marlee Ann Thedford, daughter of David and Julie Thedford.
