County commissioners to meet Monday

The Dyer County commissioners will hold their regular monthly meeting a week earlier this month. Commissioners will meet on Monday, Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the circuit courtroom of the Dyer County Courthouse. Butler receives suspended sentence for 16 counts of theft

Tina Woods Butler, 45, appeared before Dyer County Circuit Court Judge Lee Moore this week and received a two-years suspended sentence after pleading guilty to 16 counts of theft. Butler's charges stem from an investigation that was launched by the Dyersburg Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division in July of 2010. ...

Police investigating attempted child abduction

Dyersburg Police are investigating an attempted abduction of a child on Thursday morning that was walking to a school bus stop. Police were notified of the attempt at 7:19 a.m. on Schaffer Street in Dyersburg. Reportedly, an 11-year-old female was walking to the school bus stop on Schaffer Street when a male approached her from behind and attempted to pull her toward a vacant house at 1742 Schaffer St. The child struggled with the man and was able to break free and run away.
