County fire committee discusses deteriorating equipment

The Dyer County fire committee met for the first time in six months on Thursday morning to discuss several pressing issues including: a mutual aid agreement with the city of Caruthersville, the Worker's Compensation Fund, fire-prevention education and fire department equipment. Lifeline Blood Board honors Parr for service

Margaret Parr was awarded the 2012 Willis G. Gilliland Award at the Lifeline Blood Board's recent meeting on Thursday, Nov. 8. Parr, who serves as secretary for the board, was chosen for recognition for her dedicated service to the organization. The award honors both Parr and Willis G. Gilliland, the former First United Methodist Church minister who formed the Lifeline board and was responsible for getting blood drives started in the Dyersburg community. Sheriff's dept. makes several arrests on meth-related charges
