Pet fashion show rain date set

Organizers of the inaugural Home Runs and Hounds fundraiser, a pet fashion show and day of fun for pets and their families scheduled for Okeena Park this Saturday, has selected Saturday, April 20 as a rain date in the case of inclement weather. The event was designed to raise funds to help the Dyer County 13-year-old AAA Tomahawks travel to the USSSA Global World Series in Orange Beach, Ala. this summer. A pet fashion show with three categories and a variety of activities are planned. The event will take place at 1 p.m.

Arts and crafts fair to raise funds for Relay

An arts and crafts fair benefiting Relay for Life will take place from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., this Saturday, March 23. The event, hosted by the Dyer County Board of Education's Relay for Life team, will take place at Northview Middle School located at 820 Williams St. in Newbern. There is a $1 admission fee with over 20 vendors expected to participate. Featured items will include jewelry, children's clothes, home goods, personalized tiles, gourmet dog treats, monogrammed items, Easter baskets, painted plates, burlap door hangers and flower arrangements, as well as national brands like Thirty-One, Mary Kay and Avon. Concessions and baked items will also be available. Chances to win a handmade quilt by Shirley Butcher will be sold for $1. The quilt will also be on hand at the Relay for Life Marketplace in downtown Newbern on Saturday, April 6. The drawing will be held Sunday, April 7. Singer/songwriter offers workshop, concert Saturday

Power Board chooses auditors

Man arrested for meth labs on back porch, held on $75,000 bond
