Rainy weather doesn't dampen Easter egg hunt

The rain held just long enough on Saturday to conduct the annual Main Street Easter Egg Hunt on the lawn of the Dyer County Courthouse. Local agencies work together to aid homeless man

As temperatures dipped last autumn, Maurice Fort found himself unemployed, homeless and living in his car. The automobile, which was not running, was parked at a local repair shop. "I was laid off from North Down two and a half years ago," said Fort. "I thought I was going to be out of work for about two weeks or so. I drew unemployment until that ran out. My car doesn't run. It has been at B&M's repair shop for over a year. When it got dark, I'd get in the car."...

Man accused of Friendship shooting pleads guilty to firearms charge

Craig Michael Barbee, 39, of Dyersburg, Tenn., pleaded guilty Friday to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, announced U.S. Attorney Edward L. Stanton III. According to the indictment and statements made during the plea hearing, on May 18, 2012, Barbee used a .38 Special revolver in an attempt to rob the Dollar General Store in Friendship, Tenn. ...
