Clyde Lawrence Bottoms, 102, of Dyersburg, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Maple Ridge Manor. He was a retired insurance agent for Life of Georgia, where he worked for 35 years and was a founding member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. County School Board upholds disciplinary action

Escaped inmates from Henning prison captured near Covington

Two inmates who escaped a minimum-security annex in West Tennessee on Monday morning are back in TDOC custody. Ashton Siler, 21, and Dustin Wayman, 20, both minimum custody inmates, were captured on Wednesday morning less than 15 miles from the prison. Authorities with the Department of Correction, with assistance from the Tipton County Sheriff's Department, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department located the pair in a wooded area near Highway 51 just outside Covington, Tenn. Both men will now be housed at a maximum-security facility and will face an additional five years added to their sentences. Details of their escape are still under investigation. No known additional crimes were committed while on escape. Siler was serving an eight-year prison sentence for drug convictions out of Madison County. He would have been eligible for parole next year. Wayman was serving a two-year sentence for auto burglary out of Knox County. His sentence was due to expire in January 2014.
