Leadership project plants trees at Fifth

The Dyer County Adult Leadership Class of 2011-2012 recently completed its class project on the campus of the new Fifth Consolidated Elementary School. The class planted three dozen trees in various locations around the school. "The class visited Fifth Consolidated in their first year to occupy the new facility," said Leadership Director Steve Guttery. The Dyer County Budget Committee took on a full agenda on Wednesday morning as the fire department, McIver's Grant Public Library and Dyersburg State Community College pitched their funding requests. After the three departments had made their presentations Commissioner William Mallard, chairman of the budget committee, announced that his rough estimates indicate that the general fund budget has received approximately $87,000 more in requests this year when compared to last year's budget. ...
