DHS senior earns commended status in scholarship program

Dyersburg High School has turned having their students at the national level into an art form as the school received notification that senior Jim Heckethorn has been recognized as a Commended Student in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program. Heckethorn is one of 34,000 seniors that were informed this week that they placed in the top 5 percent when they took the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test their sophomore year of high school...

Police investigate restaurant burglary

Dyersburg Police are investigating a burglary that occurred at local popular eatery Lupo's Italian Steakhouse over the weekend. The burglary was discovered on Sunday morning when employees reported to work and saw the signs of a break-in. DPD Lt. Billy Williams said the suspects reportedly got into the building through the forced entry of a window. It is not know what, if any, items were taken at this time and there are no suspects...
