Fitness Tip: Segmental rotation

Target area: Abs and other core muscles. Lie on your back with your knees bent and your back in a neutral position. Tighten your abdominal muscles. Keeping your shoulders on the floor let your knees fall slowly to the left. Go only as far as it is comfortable. You should feel a stretch, but not pain. Return to the start position. Repeat the exercise to the right. Do 10-12 repetitions. Amy Carroll is a certified personal trainer and sports nutritionist and is an instructor at the YMCA. Carroll is also a CPR instructor in BLS and Heartsavers.

Local librarians attend technology training

Librarians from two Dyer County libraries recently joined librarians from the Obion River Regional Library for a day of technology training. Sharon Simpson of McIver's Grant Public Library and Janice Peevyhouse of Newbern Public Library enjoyed a presentation by Heather Lambert of the Tennessee State Library and Archives at the training.

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Newbern (TCAT-Newbern) hosted its annual graduation ceremony on Thursday, Aug. 22 at the West Dyersburg Church of Christ. Trimble native to perform free concert

County school board informed on school lunch requirements

Dyer County School Board representatives opened their September meeting with a presentation by Dyer County School System Supervisor of Food Services Amy Hester on Tuesday evening. Mobile data project nearly complete

After over two years of discussions, planning and now finally installations, the Dyersburg Police Department is very close to finally seeing its CAD mobile data project, funded by the Dyer County E911 board, go live.
