International Internet DJs visit local listeners
(Local News ~ 10/10/13)
Two international Internet DJs and their spouses paid a visit to Dyersburg last week to visit with longtime local listeners and friends. Wendy McGrane (third from left), also known as DJ Choonz, and David Duncan (second from left) also known as DJ Heavy D on BGL Radio were touring the states on holiday with their spouses. They dropped by Dyersburg to meet with local listeners Terry Brock, and Kim, Bruce, and Nick Roy. Wendy McGrane and her husband, Chris, are from Manchester, United Kingdom, where bands such as Joy Division, the Smiths, the Stone Roses, and the Bee Gees originated. Davis Duncan and his wife, Tammy, are from Henderson, Ky. Nestled along the banks of the Ohio River in Western Kentucky, the city is where blues legend W.C. Handy lived for nearly a decade before he started writing music. The friends all met on the Internet, but had never all met together at once. While in Dyersburg, the group surprised Chris with a surprise 50th birthday party. From left: Chris McGrane, David Duncan, Wendy McGrane, Kim Roy, Bruce Roy, Tammy Duncan, Nick Roy, and Terry Brock.
