The Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen had little business to conduct at their regular board meeting on Monday evening, so it took the opportunity to hear lengthy reports from the mayor and aldermen. Dyersburg Police end two-hour standoff with rescue of child

A 28-year-old woman remains in the Dyer County Jail after her almost two-hour standoff with police on Sunday evening. On Sunday, Oct. 20, at approximately 8:16 p.m., Dyersburg Police responded to 600 Wendell Ave. in reference to a welfare check on a female and her 2-year-old son. Officers were informed by family members that Allison Brook Hawatt, 28, was inside her residence with her child and were concerned that she was going to harm herself.
