Brenda Gale Cunningham, 72, of Crofton, MD, formerly of Memphis, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Crofton Care and Rehab Center. She was a retired nurse for Methodist Hospital in Memphis. She was a Catholic. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Father Robert Stellini officiating. Dyer County Schools announces winners of Red Ribbon Week Essay Contest

The Dyer County School System recently held a systemwide Red Ribbon Week Essay Contest to promote alcohol, tobacco and drug-prevention awareness. This year's theme was "Our Future is Bright, No Drugs in Sight". The winners were chosen from hundreds of submitted essays and they received cash prizes.
