Wilma Sue Boyd Viar, 73 of Chesapeake, Virginia formerly of Springdale, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2014. She was born to the late Doyle and Elleta Boyd on December 2, 1940 in Nashville, Arkansas. Sue graduated from Murfreesboro High School and received a Bachelors and Masters degree in Elementary Education from the University of Arkansas. DIS to host art auction March 7

Dyersburg Intermediate School is hosting an elegant evening of dining and art. The event will take place on Friday, March 7, at 6 p.m. in the DIS cafeteria. Dyersburg Intermediate Association is sponsoring the evening. Amy Staggs, president of DIA, stated that the parent organization is excited to showcase the talent of students and staff as well as raise money to support the arts programs and other areas at DIS. The parent group, with the support of teachers and administration is planning this event. The event will begin with dinner and conclude with an art auction. Each classroom at DIS is creating one, class art project to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. The auction will also feature other items including original works by Dyersburg Intermediate's own Robert Cupples and Bridget Sullivan. Ticket prices for the dinner are $10 for students and $12 for adults. Tickets may be purchased at Dyersburg Intermediate School. The deadline to purchase tickets is Feb. 28. On March 7 the doors will open at 5:45 p.m. for a gallery walk, to preview the art to be auctioned. Dinner will begin at 6 with the auction to follow at 6:30. New Bogota warning siren installed

As storm clouds approach behind Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box, he and Bogota resident Larry Bennett make one final inspection during a brief test of the new Community Warning Siren in Bogota, which will be used to warn residents during a tornado warning at no cost to the community.

Power Board approves auditor, new actuary firm

FBI raid targets Wright's Auto Parts and Metals

One of Gates, Tenn.'s largest businesses was closed Thursday morning after agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided it. Federal agents, along with Tennessee Highway Patrol state troopers, were at Wright's Auto Parts and Metal, located on Wardlow Road East in the small town of Gates in Lauderdale County. FBI agents reportedly questioned employees of the business and asked for their IDs. A spokesperson for the FBI could only state they had reason to execute a search warrant. As a practice, the FBI does not normally provide information about ongoing investigations. A spokesperson for the Tennessee Highway Patrol stated the raid was part of an FBI investigation and the troopers only assisted in the execution of the search warrant. Wright's Auto Parts and Metals also have a location in Dyersburg.

Starting region tourney at home a bonus for local squads
