James Howard Autry, 65, of Dyersburg, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was a retired truck driver for USF Holland Trucking Company and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church #2 in Rives, TN. He was a 1966 graduate of Obion County Central High School. Mr. James was a former police officer in Union City and worked several years for Combined Insurance Company. He was an avid golfer and fisherman and a member of the Dyersburg Moose Club...

The lawn was selected for the beautiful landscape design, vast array of blooming seasonal plants and overall neatness. The residence features an elegant display of decorative shrubs and blooming seasonal plants including azaleas, tulips, daffodils, iris, roses, ferns, hostas, phlox and creeping jenny. Dogwood trees adorn the home with brilliant spring splendor. The Beauty Spot of the Month is awarded to residents in recognition of their contribution to community and neighborhood beautification.

County budget committee hears from dept. heads

The Dyer County Budget Committee convened Tuesday morning to hear proposed budget presentations from county department heads for the 2014-2015 fiscal year. Committee members first heard from County Road Superintendent Jeff Jones who requested a transfer for the current fiscal year. Kidnapping suspect sentenced to 8 years in prison

A Dyersburg man has been sentenced to eight years in prison after the 2012 attempted kidnapping of an 11-year-old girl on Schaffer Street. James Weaver, 22, appeared before Dyer County Circuit Court Judge Lee Moore on April 8 and pleaded guilty to the charge of especially aggravated kidnapping.
