While things have been busier than ever, for some reason this week it seemed as though a magnet was in place on the sports page, prompting the old sports guy to drop by to share a few lines on a few things going on in the local sports world. Though certain the upcoming football season had something to do with the magnet providing the tilt toward the old home base, but being honest about it, the local sports community has been missed more than you can imagine...

So I got my first taste of traveling greater Tennessee for football and I have to say I was impressed by the turnouts at both jamborees. Just a reminder, I'm very unfamiliar with the area, but I'm getting there. My adventure started as I headed to Jackson to catch Dyer County in their final tune-up before the season starts. Thank goodness for GPS because without it I would have ended up in Nashville watching a Toby Keith concert...

Summer Feeding Program reaches over 900 children

The YMCA of Dyer County, UT/TSU Extension Office, city parks and recreation directors, city and county employees, and several businesses have once again teamed up to provide free meals for a large portion of the children of Dyer County during their summer break from school. So often children in our area go without the proper nutrition due to lack of income or education and several people are striving to do both for a brief period of time during the life of a child...
