Afghanistan photo exhibit on display
(Local News ~ 09/17/14)
Dyersburg State Community College invites the public to view 'Afghanistan: Unordinary Lives', an exhibit of photographs by Manca Juvan, at the DSCC Learning Resource Center on the Dyersburg campus. This exhibit will be on display at the Dyersburg campus until Thursday and will then move to the DSCC Gibson County Center for viewing from Sept. 19--26. This display consists of 20 photos that depict the ongoing war and instability of life in Afghanistan. Ten years after 9/11 and the international community's intervention against the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, the promises of bringing democracy and rebuilding this war-torn nation have proved elusive. This exhibit tells some of the stories of ordinary Afghans that deserve to be both told and seen in order to remind us what the real images of war and poverty -- of lives far from ordinary -- look like. This exhibit is not suitable for children. For more information, contact Dr. Teri Maddox, interim vice president of the college, at 731-286-3322 or maddox@dscc.edu.
